Dennis Police Accepting Applications for Senior Citizen’s Police Academy

KA_Dennis_police 33_11713DENNIS – Seniors interested in getting an overview and insight into the inner-workings of the Dennis Police Department can sign up for the 2nd Senior Citizen’s Police Academy.

The program, which is a scaled down version of the full Citizen’s Police Academy, will cover topics that include the role of police, patrol and investigative functions, criminal law, the use of force and domestic and wild animal responses.

The eight-class program will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Dennis Senior Center from September 13 to October 7.

Preference for the academy will be given to Dennis residents or those who work in town.

Applicants will also be subjected to a criminal background check.

Applications can be obtained at the Dennis Police Station, the Dennis Senior Center or by contacting Officer Liz Tucker of the Community Policing Unit at 774-352-1537.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, September 6.
