Eastham Library To Look into Native American Past

state flag logoEASTHAM – Eastham Library Director Debra DeJonker- Berry says she’d like to take the opportunity to learn about those who lived on Cape Cod hundreds of years ago.

That’s after bone fragments thought to be those of a native American were found at the library’s temporary home.

Dejonker Berry says she’d like to work in conjunction with today’s experts on the subject.

“Tell us about your culture and listen to how many stories we can tell. We could have a whole day where we celebrate the people that lived here many, many years ago.”

The bones will likely be reinterred at a different location after being examined by the state Historical Commission.
