Eldredge Contemplates Next Steps as Brewster’s Next Police Chief

BREWSTER – Brewster’s next police chief is discussing what his focus will be on when he takes over the position next year.

Captain Heath Eldredge will take over for current Chief Richard Koch, when he retires in February.

He said that one of his first tasks is to delegate some of the administrative responsibilities to sergeants and first level supervisors.

He also wants the patrolmen to be more involved in activities and roles that will further their career.

“I’m inheriting a great department that is clicking on all cylinders,” said Eldredge.

Eldredge has been with Brewster Police since 2002 and is a graduate of Harwich High School.

He was made Captain in 2013, with the goal of becoming chief one day.

“Chief Koch has afforded me quite a few opportunities to be able to help him in the management of the police department,” said Eldredge
