Falmouth Holds 60th Veterans Day Ceremony

Falmouth VeteransFALMOUTH – The 60th anniversary of Falmouth’s first Veterans Day ceremony was observed at 11 a.m. Tuesday on Memorial Lane at the Falmouth Public Library lawn just off Main Street.

Participants included keynote speaker Maj. Gen. Stephen P. Gross, U.S. Air Force; state and local dignitaries; the 102nd Intelligence Wing from Joint Base Cape Cod; and Falmouth Fire Rescue Department Color Guard.

Also participating were Falmouth Police Department Honor Guard; Brian Boru Pipe Band; and Scouting organizations.

Falmouth Elks Lodge on Palmer Avenue held its traditional gathering after the ceremony.

A blood drive honoring all veterans will be held Tuesday until 6 p.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford Street.

The blood drive is sponsored by Marine Lodge AF&AM.
