Fiddle Classes to be Held at Centerville Library in August

CENTERVILLE – The Centerville Public Library Association is calling all fiddlers, or those interested in learning how to play the instrument.

A series of classes will be held Tuesdays in August at the library.

Students who have had at least a year of lessons on the fiddle will be able to participate in Suzuki Book One classes from 10 to 10:50 a.m. and Book Two and Three classes from 11 to 11:50 a.m.

An adult fiddling class for beginners will be held each Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m.

The classes are taught by Heather Swanson, who has worked as a public school general music and strings teacher on the Cape for 15 years. She has also performed with the Cape Cod Symphony and the Bridgeport Symphony in Connecticut.

There is a one-time fee per series of $48 with no make-ups. Needed Materials are included in the class fee and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the library.

Participants are responsible for providing their own instruments and music stands are not necessary.
