Fight Against Workplace Stigma Takes Flight with Cape Cod CEO

dwolfHYANNIS – A state legislator and CEO of a local airline is fighting against workplace stigma.

State Senator Dan Wolf is joining NAMI Mass in the fight against the number one cause of workplace disability.

Wolf signed the pledge to become a member of ‘CEOs Against Stigma’, the campaign by the Massachusetts chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Mass) to bring more awareness of mental disorders in the workplace and eliminate the stigma that often keeps employees from disclosing them.

Cape Air, which is the largest commuter airline in the United States, becomes the first Cape Cod-based business to join ‘CEOs Against Stigma’.

“Cape Air was founded on the premise that creating a safe, sympathetic and caring workplace leads to success for the organization, and more importantly, the individuals who are part of the organization,” said Senator Wolf. “Our participation with NAMI/CEOs Against Stigma is a natural extension of the philosophy we have embraced for the last 26 years.”

At least one of every five adults in Massachusetts will experience a mental illness this year.

‘CEOs Against Stigma’ is moving forward to reach its goal of 250 executives and half a million employees impacted by next summer.

Any Massachusetts company with at least 50 employees can join.
