MONUMENT BEACH – A variety of fundraisers and support gestures are in the works for Bourne Police Officer Jared MacDonald and Coast Guard Petty Officer Anna Trubnikova who were both shot last week during the triple shooting in the Monument Beach section of Bourne.

Anna Trubnikova’s spouse, Lisa Trubnikova, died in the shooting. The suspect, Adrian Loya, is being held without bail at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility on murder and numerous other charges.

There are online fundraising pages for both victims on the website, GoFundMe. The page for Jared MacDonald has already raised $33,175 from over 400 people over four days. The Plymouth Police Department donated $1,500.

The page for Anna Trubnikova has raised $8,630 from 153 people in three days.

In addition, a fundraiser for MacDonald called “A Night for Jared” is scheduled for Thursday, February 26 at Mezza Luna at 5:30.

The event will include entertainment by Jimmy D., The Halligans, Afterthought, Bourne Police Sergeant Michael Mulligan and the Highland Light Scottish Pipe Band along with a 50/50 raffle.

T-shirts being printed as a fundraiser will be printed with the emblem Bourne Strong and the saying, “It was one bad day. Tomorrow will be better.” The quote was apparently what MacDonald said to his wife Kerry on the day he was shot.

In another effort through social media, Cat Wilson of CCB Media has organized a campaign through Facebook to gather Valentine’s Day cards and get well cards for both MacDonald and Trubnikova.

Both are recovering from their shooting injuries at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Wilson said she got the idea to organize the effort on Sunday when she was talking to a Bourne police officer she knows. “I’ve been laid up in the hospital and you feel disconnected,” Wilson said.

She said that the online fundraising campaigns provide one type of support, while the cards provide a more personal kind of support. “It seems like a small gesture, but they can go a long way to cheering someone up,” she said.

She wanted to include both MacDonald and Trubnikova in the campaign because, she said, while MacDonald has gotten a lot of attention as a police officer shot in the line of duty, “I didn’t want to forget about Anna. She is far from her family and lost her spouse. I can’t think of anything worse and she is also in serious condition.”

Wilson said her Facebook campaign has already generated personal messages from people all over the country, including friends of Trubnikova from New York who haven’t yet been able to get in touch with her.
