Future of Tony Andrews Farm to be Discussed at Upcoming Falmouth Meeting

FALMOUTH – The group of residents who spurred the Town of Falmouth to purchase Tony Andrews Farm will now hold a public meeting to gage the public’s desires regarding the future of those 36 acres.

A meeting on Sunday, June 11th from 2:30 to 4:30 at the Gus Canty Community Center will take input from community members as to what services the farm should continue to provide once it is operated by the Town as a community farm.

An online survey is available for residents to fill out ahead of that meeting by visiting the Friends of Andrews Farm Facebook page, www.facebook.com/Friends-of-Andrews-Farm-338672016535813.

The 300 Committee’s Administrator Jessica Whritenour said that the groups involved in encouraging the $2 million purchase are currently meeting weekly to hash out a support structure to operate the farm once it is in the town’s hands.

“When we went to town meeting in April, so much of the public input was very much in favor of preserving the land as a working farm,” she said.

The property went up for sale in January of this year.

Future uses for the land will likely involve the continuation of pick-your-own produce items, such as pumpkins, strawberries and sunflowers.
