YARMOUTH PORT – Seven organizations were recently awarded recognition from the Cape Cod Foundation in the form of grant money.
The Gay and Lesbian Equity Fund (GALE) awarded a total of $6,450 to those organizations for their support of issues facing the LGBTQ community.
The Barnstable Senior Center received $1,400 to expand programs and social opportunities for LGBTQ elders.
Cap Lightbulb was rewarded with $500 for an interactive historical project for campers to work with Sarah Prager, a speaker on LGBTQ history.
$600 was given to the Family Equality Council to support a special gathering for Family Week in Provincetown.
The Homeless Prevention Council received $1,000 to support the council’s outreach efforts which help connect youth with a case manager who coordinates needed services.
PFLAG of Cape Cod received $1,000 for the second annual Cape Cod Pride Day.
The Martha’s Vineyard Pride, Not Prejudice event received $750.
Thrive! at CIGSYA: the Cape and Islands Gay and Straight Youth Alliance received $1,200 to support Wednesday afternoon drop-in hours at the CIGSYA House.
