HARWICH – Harwich police closed a section of Bank Street earlier today after hazardous chemicals were discovered inside an unoccupied home.
The material was discovered by a home improvement company working on the property.
Harwich Fire Department officials said they are not sure what type of chemicals are involved, but out of an abundance of caution, they are closing the street when they remove the material.
The section of road, between Parallel Street and Lovers Lane, will be closed again tomorrow morning beginning at 9 a.m. to remove the materials from the household.
Police said there is no imminent danger from the material.
