HINGHAM – The state Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that utility work will force the closure of Route 3 in the Hingham stretch beginning at midnight Saturday, October 25.
Route 3 will be closed in both directions in the towns of Hingham and Norwell.
Northbound traffic will be detoured at exit 14, Route 228, through Queen Anne’s Corner, turn left on Route 53/Whiting Street and left on Derby Street to rejoin Route 3 in the northbound direction.
Southbound travel will be detoured off Route 3 at exit 15 for Derby Street. Traffic will follow Derby Street and turn right on to Route 228/Whiting Street; and right at Route 228 to rejoin Route 3 in the southbound direction.
The closure will last until 7 o’clock Sunday morning.
The closure in both directions will allow the Hingham Municipal Light Plant to perform work to move aerial utility lines across the highway.
