Housing Rehab Program May Provide Support Funding to Homeowners

HARWICH – The Community Development Partnership (CDP) may partner with Eastham and Harwich selectmen to bring Community Development grant funds to the area.

The funding would provide for failed septic replacements, improvements to buildings not already up to code, lead paint abatement, heading and plumbing repairs, roofing and siding, and other general or specific improvements for property owners who could not otherwise afford it.

CDP Director of Development Moira Noonan-Kerry said that the program’s successful run in other towns, including Dennis, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown, is evidence that many Cape Codders are in need of these services.

“A number of the people that we work with are able to stay in their homes and stay on Cape Cod because of the repairs that were done through this program,” she said.

The program has already repaired and upgraded over 380 homes for low and moderate income families while putting local contractors to work.

More information on the project is available at www.capecdp.org.
