Hundreds Attend Wake, Funeral, for James Lavin

James Lavin

FALMOUTH – One of the two Falmouth High School students killed in a crash last Thursday night was laid to rest Tuesday.

A funeral mass was held for 17-year-old James Lavin at St. Patrick’s Church in Falmouth. A processional was then held from the church to St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

There was a long line at a Falmouth funeral home Monday night as hundreds of mourners came out to remember Lavin. The wake was attended by family, friends, fellow classmates, and other members of the community.

A number of local high school sports teams also attended. Lavin and teammate Owen Higgins were both members of the Falmouth football and hockey teams.

Services have also been announced for Higgins, the second victim in the crash. His wake will be held on Thursday at the Chapman, Cole, & Gleason funeral home on Thursday with a funeral mass and burial planned for Friday.

Lavin and Higgins were friends and teammates on both the Falmouth High School hockey and football teams.
