HYANNIS – The Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District celebrated a successful tourist season at its annual breakfast yesterday, while highlighting other successes of Main Street Hyannis over the course of the past year.

Most notably, officials were touting the success of their recent partnership with Barnstable police.

“The police have created a community impact unit comprised of three really skilled officers who really tried to get to the bare issues and solve the problems before they happen,” said Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District Executive Director Elizabeth Wurfbain, adding that their partnership has helped make Main Street a better place. “A place can evolve. There are better ways to evolve the present paradigm. That was a really big important push that we had this year and we’re very proud of it,” said Wurfbain.

Looking forward, Wurfbain said her organization will work to bring more events to Main Street, particularly the village green.
