HYANNIS –  The Hyannis Fire District will be voting for proposed funding of $17.7 million dollars for a new fire station today.

The special meeting will be held at Barnstable High School’s Performing Arts Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

An optional informational session for voters will also be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Voters will also decide on whether to allow the district to sell the property of the former Hyannisport Fire Station as well as a vacant commercially-zoned lot on Phinney’s Lane.

At two district meetings earlier this year, a majority of voters approved the station but not the two-thirds needed for the project to be approved.

The last vote on July 1 failed by just eight votes.
