Jim was born on July 14, 1966 in Newton, Ma. He attended Wellesley Parochial Schools and moved to Cape Cod in 1981. He graduated from Barnstable High School in 1984.
In 1993, Jim became a custodian for the Town of Barnstable and found his passion. He fell in love with the Barnstable West Barnstable Elementary School staff, students, and most importantly Mr. Roy Thompson. As time went on, BWB became his home away from home. He was often known to be singing through the hallways. “Mr. Rooney” had a special way of making every student feel like they were his favorite.

He was an avid Boston sports fan, particularly the Boston Celtics. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and cribbage. As his mother would say “he could talk the monkeys out of the trees.”
Jim’s true joy was his family and friends. Whatever the occasion, he was the life of the party. He had a kind word for everyone he met and was a true friend to all.
A funeral Mass will celebrated on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 10am at Our Lady of Victory Parish, S. Main Street, Centerville. Immediately following the service there will be a reception in the Parish Hall.

If I leave here tomorrow,

Would you still remember me?

For I must be traveling on, now

‘Cause there’s too many places I’ve got to see…
