Judge Orders Johnson to Pay Sandwich Legal Fees

gavelSANDWICH – A Barnstable Superior Court judge has ordered former Sandwich schools superindendent Mary Ellen Johnson to pay for the town’s legal fees.

Johnson was awarded $434,000 in December after Judge Christopher Muse found the town breached her contract.

She has since submitted five motions asking for a larger settlement. Those motions have been denied.

Attorney John Davis, who represents the Town of Sandwich in the case, said he filed a motion with the judge seeking the compensation.

Davis will now submit an affidavit to Judge Muse detailing how much the town has spent on its recent defense.

Johnson will have 10 days to appeal if she chooses.
