HYANNIS – Just Picked Gift Shops is hosting its annual Project Gratitude event today.
The event was inaugurated last year by Just Picked as a way to give the local community an opportunity to thank the men and women of the armed forces for their dedication to duty.
Project Gratitude is part of a larger, nationwide program called, “Adopt a Platoon.”
Children and Adults are invited to Just Picked locations in Hyannis and Yarmouthport to draw, sketch, or write personal greetings.
The event is free and all materials will be provided by the Just Picked staff.
Creative areas will be set aside in each store and all expressions of thanks will be packaged with small seasonal gifts and sent to a distribution site for delivery to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
“Last year, we were able to send over 250 pieces to our men and women serving over seas who will not be home for the holidays,” said Walter Domain, Just Picked Store Manager.
“It would be great if we could double that number this year.”
Just Picked locations are at 13 Willow St. at the junction of 6A, Yarmouthport and 165 Yarmouth Rd. Hyannis, next to DJ’s Wings.
