Juvenile Officer’s Hours Cut Back on Islands

gavelNANTUCKET – Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard officials are concerned about a recent decision by the Massachusetts Trial Court, saying it will negatively impact troubled youth on the islands.

The state has cut the hours of the lone probation officer serving the islands; that official  will instead spend more time on the Cape.

State Representative Tim Madden from Nantucket is one the officials asking the state to reconsider.

Madden says he would like to see an additional officer added to serve Nantucket with the current officer continuing to serve the Vineyard.
