You can read the statement below.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all those affected in the terrorist attack in Barcelona earlier today. I join our friends and allies around the world in condemning, in the strongest possible terms, this cowardly attack on innocent civilians.

“As a Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, I regularly meet with European officials on counterterrorism, strategies to counter violent extremism, and other security matters. It remains of paramount importance that the United States continue to work together with our European allies to identify and eliminate terrorist threats.

“Europe and the United States have long been united in the fight against terrorism and today, after this heinous attack in the Las Ramblas area of Barcelona, the United States stands together with Spain as law enforcement moves quickly to investigate this tragedy and apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.”
