Video: Winter Storm Brings Scattered Outages to Cape, Minor Beach Erosion

WELLFLEET – The latest winter storm brought scattered power outages and minor beach erosion to the Cape.

At the peak of the storm, about 3,900 outages were reported across the region. Nearly all electric service was returned to customers by 6 p.m.

Harwich was the hardest hit with power trouble, with 1,376 outages reported during the height of the storm.

The Outer Cape picked up a widespread few inches of snow, with Wellfleet checking in with 3.5 inches. Eastham and Provincetown reported 2 inches of snow. Windswept whiteout conditions were reported in Harwichport.

Snowfall was minimal on the Mid and Upper Cape, with 1.3 inches reported in Sandwich and 0.8 inches reported in Pocasset.

The Steamship Authority cancelled its early morning Nantucket run Tuesday due to weather conditions.
