Marine Biological Lab to Host Journalists During Immersive Learning Program

WOODS Hole – Recognized journalists from across the country and from outside of the U.S. will come to the Marine Biological Laboratory for an in-depth, immersive program aimed at providing them with a rich experience from which to hone their craft.

Thirteen science and health journalists, awarded Logan Science Journalism Fellowships, will choose from a lab-based course or field-based course focusing on different areas of scientific research.

The biomedical one plunges participants into fundamental biological research using marine organisms to study concepts in molecular, cell, developmental and genome biology.

The environmental course lets fellows undertake field and lab research at Waquoit Bay, a barrier beach, a salt marsh and watershed ecosystem to discover ways that added nitrogen alters coastal ecosystems.

Fellows will study from May 31^st to June 8^th and present their data at a symposium at the fellowship’s close.
