MARTHA’S VINEYARD – Martha’s Vineyard Hospital President and CEO Joe Woodin is stepping down from his position.

In an email to the hospital and Windemere staff recently, Board of Trustees Chair Tim Sweet confirmed the news.

The hospital will begin the search for a new CEO immediately and long-time former CEO Tim Walsh has agreed to step in as interim CEO.

Woodin came to the hospital over a year ago to replace Walsh, who retired last year after 16 years at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.

Woodin came from Gifford Hospital in Randolph, Vermont where he had served as CEO since 2000.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees and entire MVH and Windermere staff, we extend our thanks to Joe for his dedication and hard work in our behalf and wish him fair winds and all the best wherever his next steps may lead,” said Sweet.

According to reports in Martha’s Vineyard newspapers, Woodin did not decide to step down on his own.
