Martha’s Vineyard Plastic Bag Free after Oak Bluffs Town Meeting Vote

OAK BLUFFS – Following a vote at Oak Bluffs Town Meeting, the entire island of Martha’s Vineyard will be plastic bag free.

The town adopted the Bring Your Own Bag bylaw, which was created by the Vineyard Conservation Society and bans single use plastic bags and requires paper bags to be made from recycled goods.

The bylaw was adopted by the other Vineyard towns last year.

Barnstable, Chatham, Falmouth, Harwich, Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, Dennis and Mashpee are towns on Cape Cod that have approved similar initiatives.
