Mashpee Police and Council on Aging Collaborate on New Senior Initiative

MASHPEE – The Mashpee Police Department has teamed up with the Mashpee Council on Aging to start a new program aimed at increasing services and support for the town’s seniors.

The Reaching Seniors Support Team includes Special Officer and Victim/Witness Advocate Tara Carline, and Mashpee Senior Center Outreach Coordinator Darlene Perkins.

They plan on visiting up to 10 homes on the third Thursday of each month.

“A good chunk of the population is of seniors so we are just trying to look at different ways to reach out to the community, and particularly to let them know about all the services that are at the Mashpee Senior Center,” Carline said.

Services cover a variety of areas vital to seniors, including fuel assistance programs, and Alzheimer’s/dementia care.

The program began in December, and the next round of visits will take place on Thursday, January 19.
