Mashpee Police Make Arrest, Seize $10K in Heroin

police carMASHPEE – Officers from the Mashpee and Barnstable Police Departments arrested a Mashpee man Tuesday after a month long investigation into heroin trafficking.

During the course of the investigation, Raymond Johnson, 43, was identified as the suspected trafficker.

A Mashpee Officer attempted to pull over the suspect on Cotuit Road while he was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Johnson did not stop his truck until he got close to his Main Street residence and ran from his car.

Mashpee and Barnstable officers assigned to a joint drug task force arrested Johnson after a foot pursuit and struggle.

Police seized two large bags of heroin totaling about 41 grams with an estimated street value of $10,000.

Johnson was charged with heroin trafficking, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license after being deemed a habitual offender, failure to stop for a police officer, resisting arrest and failure to use a directional.
