Mashpee Residents Vote to Place Restrictions on Fertilizer

hazmat symbolMASHPEE – Residents in Mashpee last night voted to implement new restrictions on fertilizer use in the town, out of concern for nitrogen control issues.

The restrictions on nitrogen-based fertilizers are similar to the ban in neighboring Falmouth.

“Where we share bays, I think it was important to be on board and be on the same page as Falmouth,” said Selectman Wayne Taylor.

The town is hoping the new bylaw will help save them millions in potential wastewater costs.
