Mashpee School Committee Appoints DeBoer as Permanent Superintendent

MASHPEE – The Mashpee School Committee has decided to appoint Patricia DeBoer as its permanent superintendent of Mashpee Public Schools.

The Committee voted unanimously to appoint DeBoer as superintendent, after she has been serving as the interim superintendent since November 2015.

“We have a fabulous staff, very hardworking and dedicated and passionate and willing to do whatever it takes for students to succeed,” said DeBoer. “The families are fabulous and Mashpee is truly a unique place where our schools are greatly valued.”

She took over from Brian Hyde after he resigned following charges from a residency check at a student’s home.

Hyde was later acquitted of the charges.

DeBoer has held positions, including substitute teacher, full-time teacher at Kenneth C. Coombs and Quashnet Elementary Schools and assistant principal and principal at Quashnet during her 20 years working in the Mashpee district.

“We’re just going to continue our work on making sure that the teaching and learning that is taking place in the classrooms is what we want it to be,” said DeBoer.

She was named assistant superintendent to Hyde in May 2015.

DeBoer was the sole applicant for the position.
