Mass Maritime’s T.S. Kennedy Arrives in Local Waters

OFF THE COAST OF PROVINCETOWN – After nearly two months at sea, students from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy are almost home.

The T.S Kennedy arrived in the waters off Cape Cod Friday after a trip to the Caribbean. Nearly 600 students have been running all operations onboard as part of the annual Sea Term, a training mission at the core of the school’s academic program.

The Kennedy is set to return to Buzzards Bay Sunday morning after traveling through the Cape Cod Canal. The vessel will be anchored in the bay throughout the weekend as students wrap up their final onboard exams and prepare the ship to return to its homeport.

Students have visited ports-of-call in Aruba, Barbados, St. Thomas, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida since departing Buzzards Bay in January.

“The experiences of their time aboard ship and onshore are experiences that will stay with them forever,” said Capt. Bradley Lima, the Vice President of Academic Affairs for Mass Maritime.
