At 6:30 p.m. Thursday night, the National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Barnstable County from Provincetown to Chatham and Nantucket counties related to Hurricane Arthur.
The 5 p.m. models show Arthur shifting slightly west, and is expected to pass 90-100 miles east of Nantucket around 9 p.m. on Friday night.
The Cape and Islands may see sustained winds of 40-45 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph and potential for 2-4 inches of rainfall.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency is operating at Level II (Partial Activation) today.
MEMA continues to monitor the track of Hurricane Arthur and continues to prepare for a worst case scenario, meaning landfall on the Cape or Islands.
Tomorrow MEMA will conduct a statewide conference call for local emergency management directors and local, regional and state public safety partners and at least one conference call with the National Weather Service.
