Military Support Group Seeks Donations to Feed Military Families

military01BOURNE – A local organization that helps Cape Cod military families is putting out a call for help this holiday season.

The Cape Cod Military Support Foundation is looking for $60 donations that will pay for entire, ready-made holiday meals for families.

All donations will go to military families working on Joint Base Cape Cod and the local Coast Guard stations on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

Foundation President Don Cox said the need is especially acute on the Islands, where turkey prices have hovered around $4.25 a pound, and milk can cost as much as $6 per gallon.

“There are certain ranks in the military, like E5 and below, that make less than $30,000 a year,” he said. “Living on Cape Cod is no easy thing, and with that cost of living, three kids and Christmas, that’s why they need this support.”

Donations can be made at capecodmilitaryfoundation.com.
