Mills Woman Cited in Rollover Crash

ER medical symbolMARSTONS MILLS – Barnstable Police will cite a Marstons Mills woman who was trapped in her crashed car Sunday evening with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Barnstable Police Sergeant Michael Riley said, Sheila Van Beeck, 32, of Marstons Mills contacted police at 7:15 Sunday night after she crashed her car on Santuit-Newtown Road and was trapped.

Barnstable Police Detective Kevin Connolly found the crash site near 558 Santuit-Newtown Road where Van Beeck’s black Nissan Maxima was about 20 feet off the road and resting on its roof.

The car, Riley said, failed to negotiate a curve and went through a fence before flipping over.

Connolly was able to open the car door to let out Van Beeck, who was the only one in the car.

By then, the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Rescue Department had responded as well.

Connolly said Van Beeck seemed confused and upon further investigation appeared intoxicated. Riley said she admitted to consuming alcohol before driving.

She was transported to Cape Cod Hospital.

She will be summonsed to court on charges of operating to endanger, operating under the influence of alcohol and a marked lane violation.
