Mosquitos Held at Bay by Dry Conditions

mosquitoYARMOUTH – With warmer weather comes mosquitos and the Cape Cod Mosquito Control Project is in the process of hunting down the pests on Cape.

Project officials use bacteria to treat water in areas where mosquito larvae grow in order to kill the larvae.

In what may be some good news, Project Entomologist Gabrielle Sakolsky says conditions haven’t really been conducive for mosquitos.

Sakolsky said Cape residents should be vigilant in order to prevent the pests from increasing in numbers by removing any standing water from their property.

Even tiny amounts of water can contain the larve which produce adult mosquitos, she said.
