Nantucket Concert to Feature Grammy-Nominated Pianist, Renowned Soprano

NANTUCKET – A special concert featuring a Grammy-nominated pianist and a renowned soprano comes to the Nantucket Whaling Museum next month.

The Nantucket Historical Association presents the one-night-only performance, “Love in the Springtime,” Thursday, May 11 at 6 p.m.

Pianist Jennifer Maxwell spends half of her time on the island where she is a faculty member at the Nantucket Music Center. She is a committed educator who works with pianists of all ages.

Maxwell was a quarterfinalist for the 2016 Music Educator Award, presented by the Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation.

Soprano Jessica Heuser specialized in Baroque vocal technique and studied in schools from Vancouver to Texas.

She also lives on Nantucket and sings in many of the island’s churches. Heuser also directs the Nantucket Music Center’s Youth Chorus and teaches “Music Together” for children and their caregivers.

The concert will feature music from Nantucket composer Ned Rorem, who has written more than 500 songs, along with pieces from Brahms, Schubert and more.

Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at nha.org.
