Nantucket Vets to Get Increased Care

ER medical symbolNANTUCKET –  Veterans on Nantucket can look forward to increasing care from the Veterans Administration.

The agency is planning on ramping up health care for vets on the island.

Susan Mackenzie, the Medical Center Director for the VA in Providence, said they plan to offer a variety of services.

“Our plan is to offer primary care, basic radiology and basic laboratory services on site on Nantucket,” she said. “Plans for the future include social services, nutrition and dermatology.”

There are currently 148 eligible veterans on the island, Mackenzie said there are 12 currently receiving treatment in Hyannis.
