National Cemetery in Bourne to Hold ‘No Veteran Forgotten’ Ceremony

military graveBOURNE –  The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will host a “No Veteran Forgotten” ceremony Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.

Cemetery Director John Spruyt said the event honors veterans who have been buried there in recent months, but didn’t have a committal service.

He said about 25-to-50 veterans are buried in Bourne each quarter without any family or friends on hand. Many are homeless or indigent.

The goal is to bring the community together to show thanks and appreciation for the veterans and their service to the country.

As part of Wednesday’s ceremony, the anniversary of the end of the Korean War will also be remembered.

The public is invited.
