Nauset Beach ORV Closures Now in Effect

ORLEANS – The first ORV closures of the season have gone into place at Nauset Beach.

Orleans town officials shut down Nauset Beach South Wednesday morning due to the presence of piping plover chicks. No re-opening date has been announced.

A section of Chatham North Beach south of trail 6 was closed Monday, but the inner trail 7 is still open.

All of Nauset Spit will remain open until June 30th, when it is tentatively scheduled to close down, unless the foraging territory of the birds change.

Orleans implemented a first-of-its-kind habitat conservation plan in 2015, allowing for increased beach access during piping plover season.
