Nauset Students Ready For Outer Cape Cleanup Effort

EASTHAM – More than 100 students from Nauset Regional Middle School and High School will take part in a community cleanup effort tomorrow on the Outer Cape.

As part of the 2nd Annual Nauset Wins Community Service Day, students will clean up the beach and boat launch at Gull Pond in Wellfleet and will assist elderly residents with yard work and other projects at their homes.

“As kids get older and they understand what’s going on and what has helped them get to where they are. They’re very cognizant of that and this is some way they can do that and be with their friends,” said John Schiffner, the Director of Alumni Relations and Community Service Program for the Nauset Regional School District.

More than 20 staff members at the schools are taking part in the initiative as well.

A number of local businesses donated equipment, such as rakes, gloves, trash bags, food, and water to support the effort.
