New Buzzards Bay Development to Feature Chain Hotel, Rooftop Lounge

constructionBUZZARDS BAY – The developers of a major new hotel, residential and retail project in Buzzards Bay received good news this week.

Bourne town officials have given the group a sufficient sewage flow allotment so the plans can go forward. The allotment clears a major hurdle of the development.

The project will be built on Perry Avenue on a 15-acre lot fronting the Cape Cod Canal and the bike path along the canal in an area off Main Street in Buzzards Bay across from Town Hall.

The area is part of a newly created economic development district, the Buzzards Bay Growth Incentive Zone, which was approved by the Cape Cod Commission and allows the development to bypass commission review.

The only major regulatory permitting the project still needs is review by the Bourne Planning Board, according to project consultant Chris Bailey of Commercial Realty Advisors.

If that permitting goes well, Bailey said, the first phase of the project, which includes the hotel, could break ground in the spring for an opening in time for the start of summer 2016.

The developers are seeking to have the hotel be part of a major hotel chain but those negotiations have not been concluded, Bailey said.

Phase two of the development is for a seven-story building with residential condos and a cocktail lounge on the top floor plus retail space.
