Parents of Addicts Plan Advocacy Role To Combat Opiate Scourge

DrugsSANDWICH – A new group has been formed to fight the problem of opiate addiction.

Citizens United for a Drug Free Environment met for the first time this week at Sandwich Public Library.

The group will continue to meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Sandwich Public Library.

Among those attending this week’s meeting was John McInnis, a case manager at High Point Treatment Facility in Plymouth.

He said the new group welcomes addicts themselves as well as parents and friends of addicts and social services workers.

He said there was a lot of emotions among the roughly fifty people at Tuesday’s meeting.

The group was originally formed by Tom Fagan of Marstons Mills whose son died of an overdose three months ago.
