New Yarmouth Town Administrator Officially on the Job

YARMOUTH – New Yarmouth Town Administrator Daniel Knapik was sworn in during the Board of Selectmen meeting on Tuesday night.

Knapik, who previously served as director of the Green Communities Division at the state Department of Energy Resources, takes over for interim Town Administrator Robert Lawton.

Yarmouth Port resident Vida Morris gave Knapik a blue pencil and said that she supports the new administrator.

“I look forward to professional management of what goes on in this building from now on,” said Morris.

Knapik’s appointment ends a year-long search for a permanent Town Administrator.

Peter Johnson-Staub was considered by selectmen for the permanent post but they couldn’t get the required four out of five approval vote that was needed.

Instead, Johnson-Stab served as interim Town Administrator until Lawton took over in November, when Johnson-Staub accepted a similar position with the Town of Falmouth.

D-Y Regional School Committee Member Joseph Tierney also gave his support to Knapik at the meeting.

“Dan, welcome to Yarmouth, we look forward to working with you and having you around,” said Tierney.

Before working for the Green Communities Division, Knapik served for six years as the mayor of Westfield.
