New Year’s Eve Procession Inaugural Event For Falmouth

new years hatFALMOUTH – East Falmouth resident Al Moniz, who is known on the Cape for his juggling skills, wanted to do something different on New Year’s Eve this year.

When he heard from Lisa Esperson, also known as the Cape Cod Drum Lady, that she also wanted to debut an event on New Year’s Eve, the two of them came up with the idea for a procession on the sidewalks of Main Street in Falmouth.

What Moniz calls “an impromptu, ad libbed gathering/stroll/revelry” will travel up one side of downtown Falmouth’s sidewalks and down the other side, ending up at Academy Lane where there will be a performance of some kind, perhaps some drumming, juggling or a skit.

“It’s all meant to be short and sweet and fun,” Moniz said.

Everyone is welcome to attend. The organizers also have 50 fun hats for participants to wear.

Those who want to walk in the procession can meet at 6:50 p.m. near the kiosk at Town Hall Square with the kick off at 7 p.m.

Local performers may end up being featured, at some point, in the walk if they want to be, Moniz said.
