WAREHAM – Wareham police arrested an Onset man Friday after a search of his vehicle allegedly turned up drugs and a handgun.
Police stopped a vehicle on Minot Avenue at 1:40 p.m. friday after receiving information that the vehicle was suspected of being involved in a drug deal across town.
The vehicle driven by Jordan Fontes, 24, was searched after officers say they saw two folding knives and smelled marijuana.
Police say a search of the vehicle uncovered 11 ounces of marijuana and a .38 caliber hangun with six rounds of ammunition.
An ammunition clip wrapped in a plastic bag was also found under the rear seat, according to police.
Fontes was placed under arrest and taken to the Wareham Police Department where a further search of his person allegedly turned up about 2 grams of cocaine and $1,391 cash.
Fontes is charged with possession of a class B drug, possession of a class D drug, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
He will be arraigned tomorrow in Wareham 4th District Court.
