Orleans Forum to Discuss Beach and Waterway Issues

ORLEANS – The Orleans Citizen’s Forum will host a public forum Thursday to discuss a number of issues surrounding the town’s most precious resource.

Entitled “Our Beaches and Waterways,” the forum will feature four panelists including Nate Sears, the Natural Resource Manager for the Town of Orleans; George Price, the Superintendent of the Cape Cod National Seashore; Leslie Fields, Coastal Geologist from the Woods Hole Group; and Cynthia Wigren, Director of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.

“Everything concerning the beaches is of great concern both economically and through the tourism,” said organizer Jeff Roy

Topics will include shifting sands on Orleans beaches, the impact of sharks in local waters, as well future beach regulations and proposals.

The event will be held at the Orleans Senior Center and begin at 3:30 p.m., admission is free.
