Orleans Historian Concerned About Demolition

historic houseORLEANS – A developer’s plans to move demolish or move two historic homes on Route 6A in Orleans has local historians concerned.

The Bassett House and the Percival House were both built in the 1800s.

The latter is in rough shape and may not be able to be saved, according to local historian Bonnie Snow, but the Bassett House is still in good condition, leaving more options for its future.

Snow says historical buildings are too important to be discarded.

The possibility of moving the Bassett House has been discussed. Some residents have expressed the desire for the home to remain where it is.
