Orleans Plover Plan Up For Review

Beach TracksORLEANS – Off road vehicle enthursiasts in Orleans could be in for some good news.

A plan to allow the vehicles oversand during piping plover fledging season has been initially approved by the federal government.

The plan is now subject to a 30-day comment period, according to Orleans Selectman John Hodgson.

“We already have the state approval. We’ve already had that for quite awhile. So now we need the federal government to review the comments. If  we need to tweak it here or there we will do that. Everybody is really excited to open the area for summer 2015,” he said.

The plan is over 600 pages, Hodgson said. He explained that it includes details on the scope and area of the property involved.
