ORLEANS – An Orleans police cruiser was struck yesterday evening on Route 6 in Orleans.

Police say an officer was merging back onto the roadway after performing a routing motor vehicle stop around 6 p.m. when it was hit by another vehicle.

Neither the officer nor the other driver were hurt in the accident.

State police were called to the scene to investigate the crash, and say the driver of the other vehicle was cited earlier in the day for operating with a suspended license.

The driver was driving the same vehicle, which had expired registration.

State police are still investigating.
