Orleans Selectmen Asking for Input on Old Kings Highway

old kings highwayORLEANS – The Orleans Town Meeting warrant will include an article to remove the town from the Old Kings Highway Regional Historic District.

The Orleans Board of Selectmen is holding a public hearing on the issue next Wednesday evening at Orleans Town Hall to receive public input. The Annual Town Meeting is scheduled for May 11.

The district, established in 1973, encompasses the area north of Route 6 from Sandwich to Orleans and is the largest historical district in the country.

The hearing will begin Wednesday, April 1, at 6:45 p.m. in the Nauset Room at Orleans Town Hall.
