Orleans Selectmen to Take Up Board of Health Issue

gavelORLEANS – The Orleans Board of Selectmen will take up the matter of comments made by Orleans Board of Health members at their next meeting on June 4.

During the Board of Health session on May 21, two Board of Health members were heard making disparaging comments about a newly elected member. The meeting was recorded.

David Dunford, chairman of the Orleans Board of Selectmen, said, selectmen have received a number of emails and phone calls on this issue.

The selectmen’s meeting is Wednesday, June 4 at 6:30 p.m.

The public comment that has already been received will be compiled for board members, Dunford said, and as usual, the public will be allowed to make additional comments on the matter.

But, Dunford said, according to the town charter, the board of selectmen has no oversight of the board of health. Nevertheless, he said, he is looking forward to the discussion and hearing what his fellow board members have to say on the issue.
