SANDWICH – A panel discussion will be held on Monday at Sandwich Town Hall to give voters a chance to hear arguments in support of banning the sale of recreational marijuana in town.

A measure to opt out of allowing non-medical marijuana businesses in town will go before voters at the May 4th election.

“We have concerns, both about public health and public safety and we’re certainly seeing some negative impacts already on our Cape Cod community,” said event co-organizer Linell Grundman.

The Sandwich Substance Abuse Prevention Committee is hosting the event.

Grundman said that the panel will focus on the misconceptions of recreational marijuana.

“What does it really mean to have commercial entities that are selling edibles? What does it really mean to have these in your community? What does it really bring in terms of any possible positive outcome?”

State Senator Vinny deMacedo and Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe will be attending.
